Independent Reporters and WhistleblowersThe sources below fall into categories unto their own. I like ProPublica, Texas Tribune, the Center for Public Integrity, Recode and a handful others.
They are NOT general news producers. They have very specific focuses. But they are damn good.
But there are very good things that are close to big media companies and high on quality.
Fivethirtyeight is owned by ESPN, which is owned by Disney, and it's one of the highest quality things around.
The Economist exists for a LONG while and it's the best magazine in the world.

Christo Aivalis,

I use, what I consider, a great app called "SmarterNews". You can set news from whatever sources you prefer. So, if you choose wisely, you can read the news from every side. I included Al Jazeera, BBC, and several other non-American sources too.

Cynthia Kelly's News Weblog gives you access to 50+ websites from the ultimate mainstream to many that most have never heard of - I use it a lot. OLD BLOG - GOOD LISTS?
